As I write this, my school's Class of 2019 is moving into the dorms and starting off Freshman Orientation. All I can say is WOW! It's hard to believe it's been a year since I started college. Now that I'm heading into my sophomore year, I don't have to worry about orientation, making friends, or who I decide to be. I've been through orientation, made some amazing friends, and decided I'm going to be the English major (Photo minor) who doesn't care what others think and stays calm when I step out of my comfort zone. So far, everything is going great! What I still have to worry about though, is what to pack for my first day of classes, what to wear, and how I'm going to juggle school, work, friends, and family. I may have a lot to figure out, but I'm sort of getting a picture of what I'll carry on my first day of classes.
Last year, during orientation, I had a few unprepared commuter moments. One of the days, it absolutely POURED and everyone ran across campus in the rain. It may have been a blast, but not so much when I was stuck with wet clothes and no dry ones on campus. Actually, this happened once again later in the year with rain that turned to snow when I needed to pick up contact solution across campus. I hope this year there won't be any serious rain during the first week, but I had my rude awakenings, and now I know I should be prepared.
To help myself (and anyone who's reading) prepare for our first days of classes, I came up with a list of my first day favorites. Whether you're a commuter or dormer, freshman or sophomore, this list can help you; especially if you can't make it back to your dorm/home between classes!
Depending on my outfit and weather, I'll either carry my blue Jansport backpack or my dark grey long champ. If the weather is hot, I'll probably go with jean shorts and a sleeveless; if it happens to be a cooler day, or less humid, I'll go with a maxi skirt and plain sleeveless. With either outfit I'll probably wear a pair of flip flops or my cute sandals.
